CHRISTMAS TREE CARE GUIDE

Bringing home a fresh Christmas tree is a joyful start to the season, and a little care will keep it beautiful and fragrant all holiday long. Follow these simple steps to enjoy a lush, long-lasting tree:

1. Planting in Fall

Why Fall Planting Works

Cooler temperatures reduce plant stress.
Soil is still warm enough for roots to establish.
Rainfall helps plants settle in with minimal watering.

1. Choose the Right Spot

Place your tree away from direct heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, or sunny windows. A cooler, well-ventilated spot helps preserve its needles and fragrance.

2. Fresh Cut

Before placing your tree in a stand, make a fresh cut about 1–2 cm from the base of the trunk. This opens the pores to help the tree absorb water more effectively.

3. Watering is Key

Keep the tree stand filled with water at all times – a tree can drink several litres per day, especially in the first few days. Check water levels daily to prevent drying out.

4. Lights and Décor

Use low-heat LED lights whenever possible to protect the needles and reduce fire risk. When decorating, avoid overloading branches to maintain the tree’s natural shape.

5. Needle Care

It’s normal for a few needles to drop as the tree acclimates to your home. Regular watering and avoiding heat stress will minimize shedding and keep the tree lush through the season.

6. Safe Disposal

After the holidays, recycle your tree through local curbside programs or composting options.

With these simple steps, your Grey Heron Christmas tree will stay vibrant, fragrant, and festive from the first twinkle to the last day of the season.
